Roadworks in Edward Street and Valley Road in Hout Bay

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is advising the public of the construction of speed humps along Edward Street between Earl Street and Princess Street in Hout Bay. Non-motorised transport (NMT) measures will also be implemented along Valley Road between Avenue De Chavonnes and Welbevind Way in Hout Bay to enhance pedestrian and cycling safety and encourage active mobility. The work is planned to take place from Monday, 29 September 2025 until Friday, 28 November 2025 provided there are no unforeseen delays.

The works will take place between 08:00 and 16:30 from Monday to Friday.

‘Over the next two months, the Urban Mobility team will be enhancing the traffic calming and pedestrian safety along Edward Street and Valley Road in Hout Bay, particularly because of the schools and play parks nearby, where the highest concentration of vulnerable road users is typically encountered. Surrounding residents can expect some noise during this time and congestion along this route can be expected. We thank you for your cooperation and patience while we carry out this work,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
